MEMORIES FROM ATATURK

On the 105th anniversary of the opening of the TBMM(Turkish Grand National Assembly 23.04.1920), we remember with mercy, respect and gratitude the Commander-in-Chief of our War of Independence, the Founder of our Republic, the GREAT STATESMAN who devoted his life to the welfare and happiness of the nation, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, and his comrades-in-arms. (23.04.2025)

LET'S BOTH STAY SILENT

.... I had heard about the incident from the Minister of Economy of the time, Rahmi Bey; there would be a meeting with the British. An authorized person from England would come for this. However, the British ambassador was against this agreement to be made with England. This meeting could not be held without inviting the British ambassador. If they invited him, things would be spoiled with his negative speech, the authorities were thinking of a solution to what they could do, they went to Atatürk whenever they hesitated. In fact, this was Atatürk's departure from us and the greatness of his vision...

Here they were surprised in the incident in question and they explained the situation to Gazi Pasha, what do you order, what should we do?...

Atatürk, who listened to the problem, said:
-Let's hold this meeting in the mansion.
The parties gathered in the mansion for the meeting. Of course, Chairmen Atatürk. After the situation was explained by the Minister, the British ambassador asked to speak. President Atatürk said to the ambassador:

-I am not giving permission to speak

The ambassador asks in a surprised and slightly resentful manner:

-Why, Excellency!.

Atatürk answers the question as follows:

-You are my personal friend. You definitely want to speak on my side, then the impartiality of the matter is lost. Let us both be silent, let them talk...
